ABC Crib Quilt Topa Cross Stitch Item by Jack Dempsey

Thank you to everyone who responded to my question about making a quilt from a quilt top. I am expecting my fourth grandchild but my life is so hectic that time is very limited. I won't slight this grandchild and not make a quilt so I picked this one because it is the least time consuming. Hope this doesn't make anyone think I'm not just as excited about this grandchild as my first three!!! Has anyone made a quilt top BUT cut the outside edge when finished so that you can stitch a back on it to hide the threads? I know I could slowly make this quilt by taking my time and only go through the top layer but that is very time consuming. Thanks to all for helping me. I'm ready to order but hesitant.

I have never made a quilt that is already quilted. I have always used plain white material, then added batting and backing. Is this basically done the same way? Will I do the cross stitching, then add batting and the backing just like the other quilts I have made?
