This pattern is a faithful reproduction of Antje Meester's sampler which she stitched at the Diaconia Orphanage in Amsterdam in 1785. The richly illustrated booklet tells the history of Antje and of the orphanage and has the pattern clearly outlined.
The design features mainly full crosses, and has some eyelets as well. Though intended for linen, the pattern could be stitched on aida as well.
