Frederick The Literatea Cross Stitch Kit by Dimensions

This is another amazing kit. Dimensions kits are always so well made. They are difficult, but worth it! I made this for a friend of mine and changed the cross on the holy cats book to a star, since they are Jewish. Frederick is so adorable!

I am nearly finished stitching Frederick, and it has been so much fun! Some of the backstitches in the picture are different from the chart, and there wasn’t enough 15381 (very dark beige brown) to complete the bookshelf border. Fortunately, a friend gave me the thread I needed from her kit, and she substituted a DMC for hers. There was plenty of the other colors. I would recommend this kit with the caveat that one should check carefully large areas of one or more colors.

This design is fine until you get to the back stitching. The pattern colours do not always match with the sample photo i.e gold where black has been used. The pattern also leaves many open stitches (half stitches in the pattern should have been used) which results in a messy finish. Disappointed with final result.

I loved this picture, and it was fun to do. I like working with black fabric so that was a plus for me. The names of the books struck me funny. It's all cat related.

I love it but I couldn't see using the black. I changed to ivory and think it will look just fine, however am having a problem seeing that too. It has to be a sunny day. Getting older sort of sucks. 20 years ago I would have bought all these kits as they are adorable.
