Where are the French knots!

The pattern info says and shows how to do French knots. But I'm wondering where in the pattern they are? In the photo on the front of the pattern, I see all cross stitches and a row or so of the Algerian Eye stitch....but I'm mystified as to where the French knots go....could anyone help? Graduation is this spring :)
