Love is the third offering in my Birds of Color Series and this one focuses on the color red. And of course, what bird better represents the color red than the cardinal and his lovely female counterpart. As with other colors, the color red represents several different meanings including anger, danger, passion, power and love. I have chosen to focus on Love with this design, with the paired cardinal couple and of course the hearts, as additional symbols of love. I hope you love stitching this sweet design! The model is stitched on 40 ct Chatelaine Dark by Mason Linens using the called for overdyed floss. Alternative fabrics: This design would be lovely stitched on any dark or medium neutral fabric. It would also be lovely on a gold-toned fabric. I recommend staying away from lighter-colored fabrics because it would compete with the colors in the design.
