Creates Wonderful Memories!
I created this cross-stitched map of Minnesota for my uncle's 100th birthday on December 28, 2019. Uncle Joe, my mother and their four siblings were raised in a small town called "Bovey," Minnesota, and I personalized this map by stitching the town of Bovey, in addition to the other cities shown on the map. I gave the pattern an "average" rating as far as difficulty because there are some fractional stitches included, and the directions were not specific as far as which items to back-stitch; you have to improvise a bit. However, the pattern does specifically mention each item on the map and the colors used to stitch that item. One thing, be certain to have black floss: it was not mentioned in the supply list, but most stitchers probably have it in their stash, anyway. Also, in the key of symbols, DMC#642 does not have a symbol for it. I figured out that it is the symbol that looks like a diagonally tilted "T." Not trying to be nit picky...Just want to help other stitchers with this lovely project. For the record, my uncle, his family and all our relatives absolutely loved the "Minnesota Map!" I too, loved it so much that I am planning to do one so that I can proudly display it in my own house, as well! Alise Orloff
