Challenging But Love the Finished Piece!
UPDATE 3/14/2024: I have completed this piece in 15 months' time and it is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could upload a photo as it is even more beautiful than the photo here. Now that I see the finished product I do not regret the time and frustration I put into it, and my husband absolutely loves it and is speechless at how beautiful and realistic it is. Once it is framed it might possibly be one of my favorites after all. Edited to 4 stars from 2.
3/7/2023: I am currently about 1/4 of the way through this project, am doing it for my husband, and WILL complete it. It is extremely difficult as lone stitches/symbols are scattered all over the place. The pattern is 25 PAGES. Some days I love the challenge; other days I loathe it. My biggest complaint is that many different colors that are stitched side-by-side are indistinguishable in hue. For example, 311 Navy Blue-MD and 3750 Antique Blue-VY DK. I seriously question whether 65 different floss colors were necessary! In addition, 9 of the 65 flosses were shorted by one skein.
The finished project is going to be very HEAVY and is going to cost a fortune to frame.
At this point, I'm not sure how much like the picture the actual stitchery is going to look. There is a lot more blue than green, which is not how it appears in the picture. Although I'm sure it will be beautiful, this will not be one of my favorite completed projects.
UPDATE 11/16/2023: I am now 11 months into this project, and have completed a little over 53,200 stitches of 71,700, putting me at nearly 75% complete. This is by working literally hours almost every day on it. It is not an enjoyable project by any means, however it is gratifying to see it coming to completion. It does look exactly like the picture and will be beautiful. I stand by what I wrote originally -- love/loathe. I am currently working on the 4th of 11 shades of brown - ELEVEN! When stitched side by side, some of these, like the navy blues, are indistinguishable in hue and add unnecessary difficulty and frustration to the project. I can't wait to have this behind me and never again will I choose a project of such difficulty that it isn't even enjoyable to work on. Not recommended!
