The idea to use a piece of card works very well. I tape it onto the bobbin & write the numbers in pencil, so it can be re-used & will not rub off.

Suggestion
I agree that this product lacks. You can't write on it without the numbers fading off, and the slits are too big. What I did was use both a cardboard one and a plastic one together. The cardboard one goes in front, with the smaller slits and the better writing surface, and the plastic is behind it to provide more support. I agree-- the cardboard ones used to be thicker....

I love these Bobbins
I tape my numbers onto the bobbins and I make the end a bit longer to keep it from coming off of the bobbin. I really like this product because they are sturdy and easy to use.

So Easy to Use
All one has to do is slip one end of your floss through the slit and wrap the remainder around the loose end to cover it and slip the other end through the other slit. Use a fine tip Sharpie to mark the number on the upper right hand side where it shows No. _____. I have been using these for years and have had no problems.

Terrible
Slots won’t hold the thread securely. Can’t write on them. Same comments as everyone else. I threw all mine away and replaced with the cardboard bobbins. The cardboard bobbins used to be thicker.

I love them but the numbers should be engraved in them
I love the plastic floss bobbins but the number tags want to fall off. Could someone invent an engraved into the plastic . I have every DMC floss they make but after 20 years of use I find it hard to get the numbers to stay on the plastic. Please reinvent a way to put the numbers into the plastic. I love this product. Poor Design
I purchased these from another seller but I wanted to rate it here.
These bobbins are made of a sturdy plastic and would definitely last a long time. However the functionality of the bobbins are seriously lacking.
1.The slits used for holding the floss ends in place are too wide for the 6 strand floss.
2. The area for writing the floss number is not suitable for writing, even with a sharpie finepoint. Wipes off easily.
3. The DMC floss number stickers will not stick to these bobbins. They easily fall off.
I will not be purchasing anymore of these plastic bobbins unless DMC can come up with a better design.

terrible
These are poorly made, I had to clip off the extra plastic and the writing I used with a sharpie wiped off too easily.

Rated as terrible! The slit in the bobbin for anchoring your thread at the beginning and again at the end is too wide to hold the six strand embroidery thread.

I use these to keep my floss organized. They make the process easy.
