Snowman a Cross Stitch Kit by Mill Hill

I've never used this item. How does it compare to canvas in quality, durability, sizing, cost? Why use Perforated Paper instead of canvas? Is it because this item is to be hung (such as on a tree) instead of framed? Thank you. Prudy
