This is not for beginners. I don't mind half stitches and back stitching. Back stitching makes a project so much prettier. It really makes everything stand out. Do the back stitching along the way so that it is not all left for the end. Keep a sharp pin handy to make a hole in the middle of the aida cloth square if you have trouble going through with your needle. This project is black and white symbols with colored lines for the back stitching. Easy to follow, but like I said not for beginners. The 3 houses makes it like 3 projects in one. I bought the Golden Gate Avenue also. I photocopy the pattern and then mark it with colored pencils as I go. Makes it easy to follow. I am kind of addicted to cross stitch as I find it extremely calming and relaxing. I listen to audio books while I stitch. Happy stitching!

I tried stitching an adorable pattern that had lots of 1/4 stitches and lots of outlining and lots of basic lettering using only strand of floss. After two intensive evenings stitching I had made very little progress. I decided to give up. I was way out of my comfort level. I found a postcard with a similar theme. I put it on my refrigerator door. Took two minutes I had to try! I need to follow my own advice and stitch to full stitches.
