Sold out of size 26 needles and cute butterfly project
ECS, do you have an estimated restocking date for the John James size 26 gold tapestry needles? I'm working on 18 ct Aida with a size 28 needle and keep splitting the thread, good for half stitches, not so good for full stitches. How did I let myself run out of size 26 needles? Shame on me!
I ordered this tiny butterfly kit, complete with hoop and backing, for $1.99. I finally realized its purpose in my stash. My 20-year-old friend had emergency open heart surgery two weeks ago to re-replace a faulty valve. She's recovering well and is cheerful as usual.
Many, many people are decorating 4x6 cards made from ordinary cardstock. A lot of effort goes into each card, and Mennonite girls across the board are really talented when it comes to artistic handwriting and design. We get a lot of practice, especially during winter when the harvest is done and there's not nearly as many things to be done around the house/farm.
So here's my dilemma. I have no such talents. I buy commercial cards, and I write a little note in ordinary handwriting. Sometimes I rubber stamp and color in simple designs. Do I stick with tradition and do the best I can with a card, or do I go my own way and cross stitch this cute tiny butterfly? It looks quilted, which is perfect because everyone (except me) quilts. Breaking tradition is a big deal though. I'm not sure which is best so I'm taking a vote. Which would you choose?
